Regulation, Compliance and Economics

The services offered include:

  • Administer the Petroleum Legislation and Agreement;
  • Carry out technical audits, rig safety assessments, inspection verification of the drilling and production platforms/vessels operating in Namibia;
  • Conduct investigations/inquiries into causes of accidents.
  • Receives applications for petroleum exploration licenses, process and participate in license negotiation and awards,
  • Monitor the activities of oil exploration and distribution companies regarding compliances.
  • Enforce the Petroleum Products Regulations, 2000, more particularly relating to the import, supply, storage, possession and sale of petroleum products, the licensing of and conducting of business by wholesalers, resellers and consumer installation operators, the application of health, hygiene, safety and environmental standards and requirements.
  • Strengthen the administrative functions regarding the policy, as well as the legislative and institutional framework based on the petroleum development areas with challenges present in Namibia.
